26-29 June 2009 (Friday - Monday)
Plan to travel with some of my Combat gym buddies was done months back... It was difficult to coordinates each other schedule... Somehow "Tiger Air" $0 fares promotion sparked our interest to travel... We checked and the best available date that all of us - Su, Juztin, Ling, Eric, Foo, Zai and I can take leave from work is on 26th June... So we decided Bangkok for our travel destination...
Ding dong here and there and we miss the Tiger Air promotion... but that doesn't stop us... We have long wanted to try traveling together... It would be fun traveling with friends especially who shares the same interest as you...
Nic brought us to lunch at MB Trendi near Siam Skytrain Station... They served ala carte steamboat... We ordered lot of foods and we were sooo bloated... Nic paid for the lunch refusing to take our money... Hmmm... We then proceeded for shopping at Siam Paragon...
Took a cab to Platinum Shopping mall where they have wholesales shops... It was stated that there were more than 2000 shops here... I realised that the prices of the things sold at Platinum are so much cheaper than MBK... Worth the buy...
Dinner was at the Traditional Thai Puppet Theater restaurant in Suan-Lum night bazaar… We ate Thai foods like Tom-yum… Foods were yummy… Again Nic wanted to foot the bills… We shop around the night market shops… Spotted a shop that sells MuayThai apparels… It intrigued me… Su, Juztin and me bought quite a few singlets and decided that we will wear them during one of the combat class… How cool was that… haha… The gals found it HOT and stuffy and decided that we call it the day so we head down back to our apartment….
Day TWO
Juztin, Ling and me had lunch at B1 Siam Paragon Food Court before meeting the rest of the gang… There were Thai food fares… Quite yummy foods… nice… Continue to shop with the rest and we walked down MBK which was quite near Siam Paragon…
Bought quite a lot of tidbits for colleague and family at home…
We had dinner at the Evergreen apartment restaurant… The restaurant was quite empty… It is kind of one man show… The cashier took our order, served our foods and bills us… The foods were quite decent…
The rest were too tired and decided to “nuah” at their apartment… I decided to be more adventurous and walked the quiet dark lane alone near the hotel surrounding… Spotted some internet cafĂ©, massage parlors and best of all 7-11 shops… I decided to extend one more night to keep Juztin company since he was alone…
Day THREE
Su, Eric, Foo, Zai and Ling hired a van to transfer them to the airport… After they left, I brought Juztin to Baiyoke Sky areas… We walked quite a distance… but it was fun… There are sooo many shops leading to the areas… It looks like old Singaporean shop houses… The makeshift “pasar malam” stalls which I think operated on weekends were there at the foot of Baiyoke Sky Hotel… I told Juztin the gals would already be complaining if they are around… We walked a lot and thank Goodness Juztin can take it… Ok ok he is FIT mah… Wanted to bring him to see the view from Baiyoke Sky Hotel but we were stopped at the hotel lobby on the 16th floor… Sad… But the view there from the 16th floor is good enough too…
We left the areas and decided to go to Platinum Shopping Mall again… Great… We spotted many shops that we miss on our previous visit with the gals… The best was the souvenir shop named Sun Star that sells many Disney products and also my favourite Doraemons… many cute cute things… I think the gals would love it…
Bought two vcd that we can watch at our apartment…
On our way back to the SkyTrain station, it rain… Very heavy… Lucky we managed to hail a cab… He charged us 100 bths… It was only about SGD$5… Some taxi drivers in Bangkok do not like to charge by meter and always want to “ketuk” tourist by flat rate which they can earn more… Beyond our control some time… Lucky this driver is good… He brought us back without losing the way… or maybe cos’ we agreed to pay him the falt rate… haha…
Rested the night at the apartment watching the two vcd… Had a good laugh… Both were in Thai language… duhhh… But the ghost story was funny… Juztin ordered room service… We had fries and calamari… realized that he can eat a lot too hor… hehe…
Day FOUR
Returned to the apartment to take our luggage… We left for Suvamabhumi International Airport by cab at 1530hrs… The bellboy was kind enough to get us a meter cab… We paid only about 300bths… Checked in Air Asia at the counter and was told that Juztin and I will be seating not on the same row… They claimed that it was system generated seats… Anyway it wasn’t much of our concern… Just find that it is not very flexible…
Had lunch at the terminal coffee lounge… Juztin did some shopping at the DFS without realizing that his passport went missing… He got panic at first… Who wouldn’t right?... Just think how much problems it can get losing one passport… We searched high and low for it but couldn’t get it… Last resort was to the check’in counter… Lucky enough, it was there… A heavy sigh of relief from both of us…
Boarded Air Asia plane FD3507 that left at 1815hrs… Experience bad turbulence and for a few moments, I thought the plane would go down… Very scary… Is that what budget airlines is about?... If given a choice, I would get off the plane, pay a little more and take another plane… The weather doesn’t help… Heavy rain… Kind like a thunderstorm… Stories on the news about a couple of planes that went down flash through my mind… Lucky for me, I survived this flight… Friends said that it is common to have turbulence but I think it wasn’t fun at all lah…
Overall, this Bangkok trip with my gym buddies was really enjoyable… We had GREAT fun, ate good foods, do interesting class and had very nice shopping experiences... but most important of all is ALL my friends company…
Special thanks to Su for helping us to coordinates…and to all my friends for the fun trips… ;)

Ding dong here and there and we miss the Tiger Air promotion... but that doesn't stop us... We have long wanted to try traveling together... It would be fun traveling with friends especially who shares the same interest as you...
Zai, Ling, Juztin, Eric and I met at the budget terminal on early Friday morning 0830hrs for our flight TR104 10:45hrs... Su was on SIA whereas Foo will only join us in Bangkok the night... Tiger Air wasn't as bad as I expected... The flight looks a little small though... It was my very first experience flying budget and thank Goodness the ride was smooth... Touched down at 1205hrs in Bangkok...
Took two cabs to our apartment from the Suvamabhumi International Airport upon our arrival... My cab with Juztin and Ling took a wrong turn and worse of all; the cab driver couldn't understand single English... It was quite frustrating... The cab air-conditioning system was not in order, making worse the situation... The other cab which Su, Zai and Eric took arrived at the apartment around 15mins whereas mine took like double their time... xianz...
Met Nicole at the hotel lobby... She agreed to be our guide for the day... As she was just back to her hometown, her parents need her to spend more time with them...
We checked in our room in Evergreen Place apartment in Ratchathewi, Bangkok... It is situated right beside Asia Hotel and the Ratchathewi Skytrain station... Quite convenient location as it was only one station away from Siam Station where MBK, Siam Paragon and many other shopping malls... As there were 7 of us, we booked two apartments... One apartment with two bedrooms which Su, Ling, Zai and Foo shared and one room apartment which Juztin, Eric and I shared... The room was quite decent... Nice view... Thanks Su for coordinating…

Day TWO
Juztin, Ling and me woke up earlier to go to Siam Paragon California gym… Was woken up by Ling who knocked on our door one hour before our arranged meeting… She forgot that Thai timing is ONE hour before Singapore time… duhhh…
Combat class was fun… They played the whole combat 40 release minus one tracks… We don’t have to depend on the instructor since Singapore had just launched it earlier… The instructor is good… Quite impressed with his techniques… Nic said that he is her friend…
Juztin, Ling and me had lunch at B1 Siam Paragon Food Court before meeting the rest of the gang… There were Thai food fares… Quite yummy foods… nice… Continue to shop with the rest and we walked down MBK which was quite near Siam Paragon…

Day THREE
Had breakfast at the local coffee house which was cheap and good… Last minute shopping for those going home on Sunday… We went to Siam Paragon again for Su wanted to get her “beauty products” at “Booty”… “Tapao” our lunch at the FoodCourt… The “murtabak” there is nice…

Day FOUR
We had breakfast at the same coffee house nearby… We decided to head down MBK for our final purchase… Bought some more tidbits… Lunch was at Shabu Shi Japanese Restaurant in MBK… They served conveyor type sushi with personal pot steamboat… price for the lunch was quite reasonable…
